S-Filer/Portal boasts numerous advantages over file transfers via e-mail and FTP, especially for non-technical users. With S-Filer/Portal, end-users are not required to make any decisions, which ensures that all files are protected according to the security policies in effect since the application of encryption rules is not user-dependent. S-Filer/Portal eliminates most calls to customer support staff and the associated costs. Secure e-mail exchanges require explicit management of encryption certificates by administrators and users, along with technical proficiency with encryption and digital signature processes. Worse, security depends on users' discipline and ability to use the proper procedure, which is generally not applicable when users are roaming or not using their own workstation. A user can start a file transfer from the Web portal, or simply click the link in the e-mail notification. All transfers are done through the industry-standard HTTPS protocol, making it straightforward to exchange files with trading partners. A restart/resume feature ensures that if a lengthy file transfer is interrupted for any reason, it can be restarted where it left off, which saves valuable time.

Security policies
Your policies determine who can access files, who gets e-mail notification, how long files stay on the server, and other details. To help meet compliance requirements, detailed logs show all activity at the user, community, and corporate level.
